We will request photos of your entry area and can utilize Google Earth for terrain specifics such as expected meteorological conditions at your location. After discussing your budget, gate style and desired features, a $500 to $1000 deposit, based on the complexity of the project will be necessary for our team begin the computer graphic design (CAD) for your project. We never charge for phone discussions or customer visits to our office. After the scope of the project is fully accepted, we can then develop an formal proposal for your entry gate project. The design deposit will be credited back to the customer if you choose us to build your custom gate.

Gate Movement Designs
-
Single Swing Gate
Single Swing gates cover a smaller opening. They hinge on a single post. We prefer to not go over 12 feet in width. They generally require a larger opener to move the gate properly due to the wind loading and weight.
-
Double Swing Gate
Double Swing gates hinge on a post on both sides of the opening. They bipart in the middle to allow vehicles to pass. These gates are generally smaller size and may use a smaller opener to operate the gate.
-
Slide Gates
Slide Gates are cantilevered so that they don’t touch the driveway when opening and closing. There are several different designs of cantilever rollers that can be used. Slide gates have fewer problems with snow as they are not trying to move snow after storms. Cantilever slide gates require 1/3 of the length to be behind the posts so that the other 2/3 can cover the gate opening. Slide gates can cover a much larger opening than swing gates. Slide gates require a 2×2 mesh to prevent injury.

Basic Operator Designs
-
Linear Swing Gate Operators
We use linear operators for gates that have minimal wind exposure. They are a great solution for value and service. We use several different brands of these operators.
-
Swing Arm Operators
Swing Arm operators are the industry standard for heavy duty swing gates. They come in various sizes and operational capacities. They can be mounted on a post or on a concrete slab. We favor one main brand of operator that we prefer for these installations.
-
Slide Gate Operator
Slide gate operators come in many different designs and capacities. Most of them require a chain to actuate the gate but others pinch a part of the gate between rollers. We use several different manufacturers for our slide gates.
We Only Offer Commercial Grade Operators
When it comes to gate operators, your investment in quality pays dividends. While the upfront cost is higher, the longer term satisfaction is much greater. It’s a win-win situation, because the customer gets a very reliable operator and we get fewer calls back for service. There is a flood of inexpensive operators sold online and at retail home improvement stores. We see lots of customers self-install these inferior operators and suffer the consequences. If you drive around some neighborhoods, you will see these gates are generally propped open or the operator is disconnected. We routinely get calls to repair these substandard operators which we politely decline. These cheap residential operators just don’t stand up to the harsh weather and wind conditions that are found in Colorado.
Radio Transmitter Gate Entry
Some people call these “clickers.” They send out a radio signal at a specific frequency that the operator receives and then opens the gate. Wireless keypads and other devices can also be incorporated into a wireless radio control.
Gate Security Options
-
Call Boxes
There are many options for notification that someone is at your gate. These can be as simple as a keypad with your telephone number up through more sophisticated call boxes that have internet or cellular access, cameras, etc. that connect to your cell phone. We offer some video call boxes that connect to your cell phone with no monthly fee.
-
Magnetic Key Card Readers
OTHER ACCESS OPTIONS - We can install magnetic key card readers (Wiegand cards) or RFID readers that can give access from a distance.
-
IP SECURITY CAMERAS
We can install cameras around the gate area to view the coming and going of visitors and employees.
-
Magnetic Gate Locks
These locks can help dissuade people pushing gate open and they can assist in keeping gates closed in high winds. They are available in 600 thru 1800 lbs. of force. These are not available for solar installations due to constant current draw.
Types of Gate Sensors
-
PHOTOEYE SENSOR
This sensor protects the area directly in front or behind where a gate moves. They are required by UL325 and all operators after 2016 will not run without them. It will prevent the moving gate from hitting something in this area. We only install dual beam photo-eyes because they are less affected by sun at low levels and dust.
-
SHADOW SENSORS
This sensor protects the area where the gate swings. It will prevent the moving gate from hitting something in this area. These sensors are added when we install a swing arm operator. Generally they are wired back into the operator so there is some trenching required.
-
EXIT SENSORS
Open the gate when someone leaves the property. We have many ways of accomplishing this ranging from magnetic, microwave or infrared detection devices. Generally they are wired back into the operator so there is some trenching required. When used with a close timer on your operator, exiting your property is automatic and closes the gate behind you.
-
LOOP DETECTORS
We prefer not to install these detectors in the pavement or concrete due to the large failure rate we have observed. We use other types of detectors mentioned here.
New home construction - Please consult with us prior to paving your driveway or landscaping your property near the entry.
We see new homeowners or builders who pave or pour their concrete driveway or begin extensive landscaping before contacting us regarding an entry gate. It’s always a good idea to consult with us on placement of conduit, and other ground effects to prevent additional dirt-work disruptions at a later date. We can always bore under a driveway or trench in power at the time of installation. However, pre-planning and installation of underground conduit at an earlier stage of construction will save time, reduce installation cost, and ground disruption later.
